Why deckbuilders are the perfect commute game

Why deckbuilders are the perfect commute game

Deckbuilding roguelikes might be the ideal mobile genre. A run fits in a coffee break, every choice matters, and pausing costs you nothing.

Cardbound Realms is my current favorite for this. Its runs are short enough that a lost commute doesn't feel wasted, but the card combos run deep enough that I keep theorycrafting decks when I'm not even playing.

The genre also ages well. Because so much comes from your own decisions, no two sessions play the same, and you're not chasing a story you've already seen. That replay value is gold for a game you keep on your phone for months.

If you've never tried one, start with a slower deck and learn the pool. The combos reveal themselves once you stop mashing your strongest card.
